Why I Started Sprout Creative: Transforming Construction Brands from the Inside Out
When I first entered the construction industry, I started out as a Sales and Marketing Assistant. I was eager to learn the ropes, so I worked closely alongside the company's owner, soaking up as much knowledge as I could.
As I dove into the day-to-day operations, learning a whole new world in construction, one thing was bugging me - the company's brand identity was sorely lacking. It wasn't managed, it wasn't thoughtful, and it certainly didn't meet any sort of graphic design standard. It pained me daily!
But the real problem was, even though the company recognised the need for marketing, their approach was completely disjointed. They jumped straight from business goals and objectives, into marketing. They'd tasked me with managing the website, handling SEO and AdWords, coordinating trade show exhibits - you name it. But without a clear brand foundation, all of these tactics felt like we were just starting from scratch and hoping for the best. I was literally just winging it based on my interpretations.
I knew there had to be a better way. So I took it upon myself to really dig in and uncover the essence of the brand. Who were they? What were they all about? How did they want to show up and communicate in the world? How did we want to be known?
Once I had that roadmap, everything started to click. I was able to rebrand the company, crafting a visual identity and messaging that truly captured its unique spirit and values. And when I put that brand strategy to work in our marketing efforts? It was pure magic.
Our competitors started to take notice. We were telling real, authentic stories that resonated with our audience. I was able to get creative and push the boundaries, because I had a clear framework to work within.
That's when it hit me – I had an intuitive ability to capture a brand's essence and then translate that into a cohesive brand strategy. This was my true passion and I knew, there were countless other construction companies out there executing marketing in the same disjointed way, who desperately needed help in this area.
So I made the decision to leave the corporate world behind, take a leap and start Sprout Creative Ltd - Brand and Marketing partners dedicated to transforming the way construction firms connect with their customers.
My mission is simple: to ditch the dull, generic approach that so many construction brands have settled for, and instead, help them stand out with bold, innovative identities that truly reflect who they are and the incredible work they do.
